Been busy

We have not blogged much these last few days because we have been very busy and had little time. On top of our visits to various places including factories, schools and places of interest, we attended three Rotary club meetings in three days. Now my club in York runs like most of the other clubs I have attended in the US - they start at a certain time and finish at a certain time. But the Argentinians will be the first to admit that they have a more fluid understanding of time. So our club meetings were supposed to start at 9pm but that rarely happened. We generally got to sit down to eat by 10pm and often made our presentation by 11:15pm or so. Then there would always be more talk and we might, might get out of there by midnight!
But the clubs have been so wonderful here and their members have been more than welcoming. When we are out traveling, the local Rotary club will open its facility for us and lay on lunch. Yesterday we were in a town which was in a different District and they still welcomed us with open arms. Truly the spirit of Rotary is a wonderful thing.
On Tuesday evening we were at the Rotary Club of Mercedes Oeste. Also in attendance was District Governor Gustavo and the Representative of the Rotary International President, July Gereda de Carlin from Peru, both pictured here along with the club President.

Gifts were exchanged and recognitions were given. It was a great evening.

The next evening were were at the Rotary Club General Rodriguez. It was a great evening with recognitions of members for length of service to Rotary, a commendation from Rotary for 100 percent participation in the Foundation and the District Rotaract Student of the year.

As always the exchange of banners. This is Annabel, Team Leader for the German team, with the Club President and Secretary.

I will be bringing a fair share of banners home to my club and District.

More to come.
